the Marshmallow Room Bakery
the Marshmallow Room bakery

The Marshmallow Room Bakery is a small artisan bakery. The term 'artisan' simply means that we use few automated processes, relying instead on traditional methods of hand-shaping each individual loaf and using long fermentation to develop the full flavour of the dough. We do not use any artificial enhancers or chemical bread "improvers". Bread is not meant to last for two weeks. Salt and sugar are used sparingly and very few of our breads contain fat.

The breads and pastries at The Marshmallow Room Bakery are all made with organic, unbleached flour. We use filtered water and to season our breads we use either Maldon sea salt or Sel de Guerande from Brittany.

The Marshmallow Room does its utmost to behave responsibly and ethically, and to purchase our ingredients from sustainable sources. We pay particular attention to where our ingredients come from, trying to source as much local, pesticide free, raw product as possible. We preserve as much local produce as we can,  selling our line of in house made jams, chutneys and jellies both in the bakery and on-line. Our obsession with quality and freshness stems from our desire to produce the very best. Natural porducts from beginning to end.

The Marshmallow Room also sells in-house made charcuterie, such as boar or elk pâté, rillette and salami. We offer a selection of food and pastries to eat in or take away.

We believe in high quality food that is closer to the source. We invite you to enjoy this experience with all your senses; the first one being your sense of smell as you walk through our door.

Our tea room stocks over 100 loose leaf teas as well as a selection of teapots and tea accessories. For a better idea of our range of product, please look at our on-line catalogue or visit us to see our complete inventory.

tea tastings

TeasWe will hold monthly tea tastings beginning on Mother’s Day and finishing in September. Please contact us for dates, further information and reservations. We require a six person minimum to run the tea tasting and accept a maximum of twelve people. We will gladly put together a tasting of your choice for a group of six or more. Cost $25 per person.

The tea tasting will last approximately 2 hours.

The tastings will explain the origin and production of loose leaf teas and you will have the opportunity to sample approximately 20 teas. The teas will range in type from white tea through to black. We will demonstrate how to brew the tea using various tea accessories and explore the flavours, colours and history of tea. You will be given notes on the various teas throughout the sampling as well as a complimentary 20g bag of the favourite tea that you tasted.

Classes will finish with tea and scones.

If you are booking your second tea tasting please let us know and we will make sure not to duplicate the teas.
